Stars Return With Flat Racing Back At Naas Racecourse This Sunday

The Tote Irish EBF Devoy Stakes is the feature race as Flat racing returns to Naas Racecourse this Sunday.
Last year’s winner Sunchart is among the 14 entries for Sunday’s €45,000 listed event and Andy Slattery’s talented eight-year-old is set to face some more youthful types with the entries attracting some interesting four-year-olds.

Among the younger brigade is the Adrian Murray-trained pair of Dallas Star and Persian Bliss who represent a stable fresh from winning the opening two-year-old maiden of the season at the Curragh on Sunday.

Dallas Star and Persian Bliss finished first and second respectively at Dundalk last month and have race fitness on their side.
“We were delighted to get Dallas Star back on track at Dundalk and it was always the plan to go for the Devoy Stakes at Naas after that run,” said Ryan McElligott of owners Amo Racing.

“Dundalk was his first run since the Derby at Epsom so we think there will be some natural improvement to come from him after Dundalk and Adrian has been pleased with both horses since their run. Dallas Star appears to be a horse that is very versatile on different ground so hopefully he will step forward again on Sunday.

“Persian Bliss is a very consistent colt who has yet to run on grass but has an entry for Sunday and we’ll see how he is later in the week.”
Ger Lyons could introduce an interesting French recruit in Bravais who was placed in a Group 2 on his last start for Andre Fabre in 2023 and carries the famous Juddmonte silks

Joseph O’Brien, who was successful in this race in 2023 with Visualisation and 2020 with Numerian, has included the JP McManus-owned duo of Dawn Rising and Trustyourinstinct, O’Brien’s younger sibling Donnacha has included Uncanny among the entries.
The Dermot Weld-trained Coeur D’or is one of seven entries who are rated 100 or higher and Weld has also engaged the Leopardstown maiden winner Duraji.
The Irish Racing Writers Association Ron McKnight Memorial Madrid Handicap has attracted 17 three-year-olds to contest for the €45,000 prize.
Champion trainer Aidan O’Brien, who won this race in 2023 with Paddington, has included 2,000 Guineas and Derby entries Acapulco Bay, Genealogy, Isambard Brunel and Serengeti. The Joseph O’Brien-trained Miracle Beauty, who is already a winner at Naas, and the Donnacha O’Brien-trained Deo Vero both hold entries in the Irish 1,000 Guineas.
Kodilicious, who was fifth in the Birdcatcher Nursey at Naas last season, is joined by stable companion Gloriously Glam for Jessica Harrington, while in form trainer Stephen Thorne will be eyeing a big prize with Wizard Of Odds as the fledging trainer continues to make a fine start to his career.
Micheal Orlandi of Compas Stallions is once again showing his support to Naas Racecourse and Irish racing by sponsoring four races on Sunday’s programme. Racing gets underway with the Dubawi Legend At Compas Stallions Handicap. The Far Above At Compas Stallions Handicap, the Space Traveller At Compas Stallions Maiden and the Aesop’s Fables At Compas Stallions Irish EBF Fillies Maiden are all supported by Orlandi.
The Aesop’s Fables At Compas Stallions Irish EBF Fillies Maiden has thrown up some high profile winners in the last number of years including Classic winner Tuesday and Group race winners Russian Emperor, Empress Josephine, Jackie Oh and Wendla.
Dual course and distance winner Facethepuckout could return to Naas on Sunday for the DAR Golf Handicap, while the likes of Acapulco Bay, Genealogy and Isambard Bruenl all have the option of the concluding TRM – Supplements You Can Trust Race if not taking up the earlier option of the Irish Racing Writers Association Ron McKnight Memorial Madrid Handicap.
