Star Filly Minding Returns to Action at Naas

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Epsom Oaks winner Minding will be the star on show at Naas this Bank HolidayMonday as she lines up in the Group 2 Camelot Irish EBF Mooresbridge Stakes. Minding will make her seasonal debut when taking on four rivals in the first ever Group 2 race to be ran at Naas Racecourse with jockey Ryan Moore again riding the seven-time Group 1 winner. Minding’s stable companion Johannes Vermeer is also among the five declared runners alongside Brendan Brackan, who ran out an impressive winner of the Irish Lincolnshire for trainer Ger Lyons at the opening meeting of the season here at Naas. The field is completed by Jim Bolger’s Moonlight Magic and the Joseph O’Brien-trained Jaqen H’Ghar. Aidan O’Brien said on Sunday morning; “We have been happy with Minding at home and she seems to be in good form. She is just ready to start off her season and the Mooresbridge looked like a nice starting point.” Diamond Fields returns to Naas tomorrow in search of a second Group 3 success at the track in three weeks as she heads the line up in the Canford Cliffs Irish EBF Athasi Stakes and where she’ll take on Dermot Weld’s exciting Moyglare-owned filly Rose De Pierre. Mick Halford’s Irish 1,000 Guineas entry Rehana is a fascinating runner in the field while trainer Mick Channon will send over the sole English-based runner on the card with Summer Icon taking her place in the Athasi Stakes line up. Weld said of Rose De Pierre; “She is a very consistent filly and I would expect her to run a nice race. Dropping back to seven furlongs is a bit of a concern but she has been so consistent that we said we would take a chance and see. I’m looking forward to running her.”   The first race is 1.40 and gates open at 12.15.
