July 3, 2018 | Jackie Donohoe
Inspire Child Development Centre will officially open on racedays at Naas Racecourse from Saturday July 7th
on their BBQ & Family Fun Day. The Centre will provide a drop in facility on each raceday free of charge for two hours per Child aged 5 years old and up. The facility was built as part of the €3.2 million redevelopment capital scheme and leased out to Inspire Child Development Centre.
Activities in the Inspire Child Development Centre on racedays include outdoor games, art activities, music and interactive learning. On non race days the facility is open to two year olds and up. Aside from providing interactive games the centre provides a range of services including Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Therapy sessions for Children with Autism and Parental Seminars.
Tom Ryan, Manager of Naas Racecourse said: “We pride ourselves on being a Family Fun track and the introduction of the Inspire Child Development Centre is a perfect fit with our Family Day proposition at Naas. We are looking forward to the raceday facility opening from this Saturday on our Summer BBQ & Family Fun Day. We have plenty of entertainment lined up for the Kids starting at 1:00pm until 4:00pm and we have BBQ packages available to purchase at naasracecourse.com.”
On the track this Saturday there is set to be some very competitive racing and the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race has attracted last weekend’s impressive Curragh winner Battle Of Jericho. Aidan O’Brien’s Rockingham Handicap winner may well be using this six-furlong contest at Naas as a stepping stone for Group 1 races later in the season and he looks an intriguing runner on the card.
The €25,000 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap attracted a 13-strong entry with Eddie Lynam’s hat-trick seeking Soffia set to top the weights alongside Willie McCreery’s True To Herself. Racegoers could also be treated to some stars of the future with some names to note in the opening Thanks Sally Carroll Maiden for two-year-olds only. Among the early entries for that race is Blenheim Palace, who is a full brother to 2,000 Guineas winner Churchill.
A Charity Marathon Relay will also take place on Saturday. A number of well-known Jockeys will compete against Team ‘Walkie Talkie’ in aid of Relay for Life Kildare and The Irish Injured Jockeys Fund. There will be 9 members on each team with one member from each team running for a duration of 20 minutes each on a treadmill in the enclosure area. The team that covers the longest distance will be crowned the winners.
Family Fun activities on Saturday include face painting, Bouncing Castles, Wooly Wards Farm, Cartoon Characters and Pony Rides. Gates open at 12:45pm, Family Fun activities start at 1:00pm and the first race goes to post at 2:15pm.
