NAAS RACECOURSE BREAK NEW GROUND SUPPORTING DYNAMIC RIDING DUO

Naas Racecourse has inked new sponsorship deals with leading riders Dylan Browne McMonagle and Jody Townend.

As a top-class dual-purpose track that is known for being the Nursery of Champions, Naas has followed up on this tag line by getting behind two of the leading up and coming riders under both codes. Jody and Dylan will become Brand Ambassadors for the popular County Kildare venue.

Dylan Browne McMonagle, the reigning Irish Champion Apprentice Jockey, has set his stall out as a name to watch on the international flat racing scene. The Donegal man has made a name for himself over the last few seasons riding predominantly for Joseph O'Brien, having Group 1 glory aboard Al Riffa in 2022 was his first of many top tier successes.

Dylan said; "2022 was a huge year for me and to get the backing and support of Naas Racecourse gives me the perfect springboard to continue into the 2023 season. Naas has always been one of my favourite tracks, I have had some great days there including being crowned Champion Apprentice twice at the track. It's already shaping up to be an exciting turf season and hopefully this year will be filled with more highlights. I'm grateful to Naas for their support and look forward to representing them in Ireland, the UK and around the world.”

Jody Townend, the current Irish Lady Amateur Champion Jockey, has been a revelation over the last number of seasons and has established herself as a leading Amateur. Taking every opportunity given to her by a host of trainers, including her main supplier of rides, Willie Mullins, Jody operated at an over 30% strike rate in the 21/22 season and hit the mark at Graded level. Just this week she got her first win in the Naas Racecourse branded breeches on board Captain Cody at Limerick Racecourse.

Speaking on the announcement Jody said, "To get the support of a track like Naas is fantastic. They are always trying to move forward and lead the way for other tracks. To receive their support is an unbelievable boost for me and lets me focus on riding to the best of my abilities. Hopefully I can give them plenty to shout about through 2023!"

Chairman of Naas Racecourse, Dermot Cantillon, commented; "Naas Racecourse is a dual-purpose track operating at the highest level. We're a Grade 1 track under National Hunt rules and we're pushing hard for a Group 1 on the flat. To bring Dylan and Jody on board as Brand Ambassadors for Naas reflects our ambition to support top-class racing under both codes. They are two bright young names in racing and we wish them every success in 2023. Hopefully the Naas logo will be flashing past the post in front many times!"
