Flat season begins at Naas this Sunday

The 2018 Irish Flat Season will begin at Naas this Sunday with a seven race card that features the Group 3 Lodge Park Stud EBF Park Express Stakes and the €100,000 Tote Irish Lincolnshire. A field of seven has been declared for the Lodge Park Stud EBF Stakes with the Listed race winning duo of Elegant Pose and Making Light heading the field, while a full compliment of 20 runners will go to post for the Irish Lincolnshire with 2015 winner Onenightidreamed topping the weights for trainer Fozzy Stack. Speaking ahead of the start of the new season champion trainer Aidan O’Brien has praised Naas Racecourse on their recent facility upgrades. O’Brien said; “Naas is an incredible facility, it’s brilliant that people are that proactive for us here in racing in Ireland. People at Naas are not afraid to push out the boat and do these things because the reality is for us to be competing at a world level and to be that competitive all over the world we have to have those facilities for people to go racing and horses to race. I think it is brilliant. I believe that everyone does their best in Naas and it has upped it another five notches. We look forward to having plenty of runners there throughout the season and we would be thinking that Capri would start his season there in the Mooresbridge Stakes next month.” This will be the second consecutive year that the Irish Flat season begins at Naas and racecourse manager Tom Ryan is looking forward to hosting the high class opening fixture on Sunday. Ryan said on Friday morning; “We are delighted to host the opening meeting of the flat season for the second year running. There has been continuous improvements made on and off the track over the past number of months. We look forward to showcasing the new facilities to the flat fraternity and in particular we hope the flat Owners enjoy our new Owners facilities, located on the first floor of The Circle. We look forward to making the 2018 flat season at Naas Racecourse a great success.” There will be plenty of fun for all the family off the track as well, as the Easter Bunny will be arriving to great excitement, while there will also be a wonderful Easter Egg trail ran by the wonderful team at the Inspire Child Development Centre to keep the children entertained.
