COMPAS STALLIONS POINTS TO NAAS AS THEY BOOST THEIR SPONSORSHIP OF THE FLAT RETURN

Naas Racecourse is pleased to announce the Westmeath based stallion station, Compas Stallions, as one of the headline sponsors for their first flat meeting of 2023 on Sunday the 26th of March.

Compas Stallions, owned and managed by Micheál Orlandi, is a well-known brand through their unique marketing efforts and Naas has been delighted to welcome the Compas team on board as a sponsor over the last number of seasons. Compas will be expanding their relationship with Naas this year sponsoring a total of 5 races on the same card, up from 4 last year.

Speaking on the association, Orlandi said: ”Naas Racecourse is a wonderful nursery for young precocious horses and Compas Stallions is delighted to continue our association with a progressive track which shares our passion to support & engage with grassroots racing and breeding."

Compas Stallions have added some fresh faces to their 2023 roster as well as offering some familiar names to breeders. Kuroshio is a son of Exceed And Excel who continues to deliver on the track and in the sales rings for breeders. From small initial crops in the Northern Hemisphere, Kuroshio announced himself as a sire to watch with impressive strikes rates and was snapped up by Orlandi to stand under the Compas Stallions banner. He has been very well supported by breeders and has hit the ground running with his first Irish bred crop with Gozen for Michael O'Callaghan and Legend Of Leros for Marco Botti just two exciting 3yos to look out for this season.

Far Above returns for his third season at Compas Stallions. The record-breaking Palace House Stakes winner has been hugely popular in his first two seasons at stud covering well over 100 each year. With his first foals selling exceptionally well he looks set for another busy year and his yearlings will be hotly anticipated.

King Of Change has relocated from Derrinstown Stud to Compas Stallions and the speedy son of Faarh has been very well received by breeders in his new surroundings. His first foals sold exceptionally well in 2022 and with interest from breeders very high, that momentum looks set to roll through into 2023.

Dubawi Legend has really caught the imagination of breeders and he has been very popular since arriving at Starfield Stud, the home of Compas Stallions. The son of Dubawi was Group 1 placed at 2 and a Group 3 winner at 3 and was a higher rated 2yo than other sire sons of Dubawi including Night Of Thunder, Zarak and New Bay. He is also the second highest rated 2yo retiring to stud in 2023. His physique and walk are making him a very exciting prospect for breeders this season.

On top of the Compas Stallions sponsorship at Naas in 2023, winning breeders will also be rewarded by winning a free nomination to the stallion that particular race is named after. In the case of The Compas Stallions Handicap, winning breeders will be allowed to take their pick for a free nomination to a stallion on the Compas roster.

Eamon McEvoy, General Manager of Naas Racecourse said: “I’m delighted to see Micheal Orlandi’s Compas Stallions back sponsoring at Naas for the fourth year in a row and we are thrilled to get such support.  It was great to visit Starfield Stud recently and see the range of very exciting sires standing there. I was really impressed with Dubawi Legend and would imagine the support he will receive will give him a great chance in the first season sires list in a couple of years' time."
