Centenary Celebrations at Naas Racecourse

Naas Racecourse Board of Directors were overjoyed to start the celebrations on the milestone Centenary anniversary with a unique and unforgettable Centenary Year Event, held on Saturday, January 6th, in the Grandstand Building at the County Kildare track.

The Master of Ceremonies on the night was Leo Powell, who was joined by Naas Racecourse, Chairman, Dermot Cantillon to welcome guests and host a cheers to the course and the founding fathers from 1924. Twelve-time Champion Jockey and Naas local, Ruby Walsh was the keynote speaker on the evening who delivered a most memorable speech to guests after dinner.

The evening brought together dignitaries, shareholders, long standing sponsors, industry leaders and dedicated staff, past and present. The attendance of dignitaries, including the UK Ambassador to Ireland Paul Johnston, along with TD’s Martin Hayden and James Lawless highlighted the significant impact the racecourse has on the community and country.

Many of the industry leaders who have experienced great success at Naas Racecourse over the last number of years were also present such as champion jockeys and trainers, Mick Kinane, Willie Mullins, Noel Meade and Ted Walsh. Horse Racing Ireland CEO Suzanne Eade and Ascot Racecourse Chairman Sir Francis Brooke were also guests of honour at the event.

The night also featured the unveiling of the new Centenary Wall at Naas Racecourse representing the past 100 years in a stunning photographic collage. It highlights some of the memorable moments and winners at the track and it rises through the two storeys in the stairwell of the Grandstand Building

As Naas Racecourse Centenary Year continues to unfold, the course has more celebrations planned in particular a community raceday closer to the official anniversary in June. You can find out more details on their website www.naasracecourse.com.
