Track Foreman 

 

Naas Racecourse is a boutique track located in the heart of the
thoroughbred County of Kildare, hosting 20 race meetings throughout the year, both Flat and National Hunt.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Track Foreman to join the team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will lead a small and dedicated team to ensure the continued delivery of a quality racing surface and fences as well as first class presentation of the surrounding grounds, enclosure and parade ring to a very high standard. In addition, this role will manage the grounds team to ensure tasks are carried out in accordance with health and safety procedures and will oversee the development and training of this team.

 

The role of Track Foreman will include:

Naas Racecourse prides itself in the presentation of its track and it will be the responsibility of the new Foreman to maintain and indeed enhance the racecourse where possible.  Horseracing experience is essential. 

The Track Foreman will work closely with the General Manager and the IHRB Clerk of the Course to ensure the best track can be presented at all times.  Being a good team player is a very important aspect of this role.

Leading a small permanent team in a fair and safe way ensuring all aspects of health and safety are taken into consideration.  The track foreman must lead by example and communicate with and organise the team in an efficient and productive manner.

The successful candidate will have to work weekends and some evenings where meetings are scheduled.  The foreman will be expected to attend every meeting and will have a very important role on the day ensuring all is in place for a safe day’s racing.

The successful candidate will also  be expected to set up the track for occasional schooling days. 

The presentation of the track, enclosure, car-park and parade ring will be the responsibility of the foreman, the parade ring must be presented to a very high standard on race day as it is the centre point of the public’s attention.

A wide knowledge of grassland management is essential including the growth and maintenance of a strong and healthy grass sward.  A competent and safe handler of all machinery associated with heavy agricultural work as well as smaller landscaping tools.

The role will also include presenting an annual plan to the manager and producing and working to a track budget.
