Naas Racecourse is kicking off the New Year in style with the Lawlor’s of Naas Grade 1 Novice Hurdle & Winter Best Dressed Day on Sunday, January 5th, 2025. The annual event, a highlight of the National Hunt calendar, promises an unforgettable mix of thrilling races, glamorous fashion, and festive celebrations.

This year’s Best Dressed Competition, sponsored by Frasers, promises to dazzle, and judges Mandy Maher and Sarah McDermott are ready to see racegoers step up their style game.

Mandy Maher, stylist, influencer, and model agency director, shares her insights into what will make a winning look this year “For winter racing, it’s all about balancing fashion with functionality. We’re looking for standout coats, striking hats, and accessories that tie a look together. It’s not just about being on-trend; it’s about showcasing your personality while staying practical and warm for a day outdoors. Confidence will truly set someone apart!"

Sarah McDermott, fashion influencer and model, echoes these sentiments and adds her own perspective "I’m drawn to creative looks that highlight individuality. Winter provides so much room for layering and texture—think rich fabrics, bold colour palettes, and impeccable attention to detail. We’re hoping to see racegoers bring their A-game to the competition."

The stakes are high, with a €2,000 Frasers gift card for the overall winner, alongside a luxurious two-night stay at Lawlor’s of Naas Town Centre Hotel, dinner at Vi’s Restaurant, and Tipsy Afternoon Tea. Second and third-place winners won’t leave empty-handed, receiving €100 Frasers gift cards and Afternoon Tea at Lawlor’s Hotel.

While fashion is a major highlight, the day is also about top-tier racing. The Grade 1 Lawlor’s of Naas Novice Hurdle, known for spotlighting future stars like Bob Olinger and Envoi Allen, remains the centrepiece of the action. This year, a new addition—the Grade 2 Racing Post Novice Chase adds even more excitement to the stellar card.

To make the weekend even more memorable, Lawlor’s of Naas Hotel is hosting a Women’s Christmas Ball on Saturday, January 4th. This glamorous event offers the perfect excuse to gather friends, enjoy an evening of celebration, and then head to the races the next day in style.
